"An old cemetery in the extreme South of Pownal to the right of the highway (route 7) and Railroad,
about 1/2 mile north of the State line with Massachusetts. This is perhaps the oldest yard preserved in the town and shows evidence of recent work in restoration."

"Possessing uncommon powers of mind and firmly attached to the constitution & government of his country, he long enjoyed in an eminent degree the confidence of his fellow citizens. At the time of his death he was chief Judge of the Court for the county of Bennington & member of the executive council. his death was occasioned by a fall from his carriage, when on his way to discharge the duties of his office at Bennington.”
